4TH LINE OFFICIAL STRATEGY GUIDE AND WALKTHROUGH

=====

First version started 11/7/98 by SkyWorm.

THE BEGINNING
=============

Run from every monster you encounter. Walk to the upper-right corner of the sand pit and talk
to the person you see there. Answer "yes" to his question and do as he says.

MILLSTONE AREA
==============

Stay on the road; the thieves are rich and give more experience than other monsters. Run from
most of them until you get a good weapon. Go south until you see a chest, first of all. Open the
chest. You'll get some money and a short sword. Now fight every thief you see unless you are very
low on health. The best buys at Millstone, I think, are Potent Herbs, Dagger, Short Sword, and
Armour. It may be hard to raise enough money to buy all of these. Medical Herbs are good if you
are short on money and in very bad condition. Armour is very useful if you can afford to buy it
and still have enough weapons and medical supplies, which are first priority. Dagger is good if
you haven't enough money to supply yourself continuously with Short Swords and Herbs, but Short
Swords are better if you can afford them. The castle is the Millstone Defence Building. That's
where you'll get your training. The vines are thinner a little below the upper right corner, so
you can walk through there. Walk up, left, down, right, and then up across the bridge, and you'll
make it inside. The Silver Snakes give you a lot of experience, but aren't worth the fight in
gold. They're rather fast, so fight them most of the time when you have enough health and
weapons; nobody likes to get pounded to the ground. Inside the Defence Building, the man with
the pot asks you to pay for a fighting tip. Pay him and you can learn Soulbolt. This is a fairly
weak spell which doesn't level-up, but it only costs 5 SP. It will be totally obsolete later,
but is useful now if you can afford it, and for a little while later because it takes so little
SP. In training, Agility should be one of your first priorities. Also learn Heal Self and perhaps
one of the other spells if you want. Train your SP up to at least 20. Get two or three character
level-ups before you leave Millstone. If you learn Fog, you'll need 30 SP to cast it at Level 1.
You'll want to use it when you cross the swamps because the Leaping Lizards there are quite hard.

SEFELD AND THE BADLANDS
=======================

Find Celta and talk to her. Fill your inventory with Wild Fruit from the plants next to her. Then
leave Sefeld. As around Millstone, stay on the road and you'll get a lot of money. The thieves
here give you more money for their difficulty than almost any monster in this game, so stock up
before you go far. You won't be able to come back here for a while. Do as the sign says and
you'll get some Armour on your way. By Sefeld, walk back and forth on the road until you get
enough money to buy an attack spell book. Look at Ye Olde Wonderfull Adventurer's Guide for
information about these attack spells. If you level-up near Sefeld, get your SP up to 30-35 and
train your Strength and Agility. You'll want more Intelligence later, so you can start building
that up a little bit. In the badlands town, do pretty much whatever you think is best. I don't
have any particular advice to give here. Don't ride the Magic Cart. I repeat: Don't ride the
Magic Cart. You'll miss a chest with a Broadsword in it.
